    • The Norwegian Film Institute can provide co-production grants for all formats.

    • Documentary co-productions with a foreign lead producer may also qualify for grants from various foundations, such as Fritt Ord.

      • Co-production grants for feature films are normally between NOK 500,000 and 3,000,000.

      • Co-productions for documentary films are normally between NOK 150,000 and 500,000.

    • Grants from the Norwegian Film Institute, Zefyr Media Fund and Western Norway Film Fund can be combined - within the limits of public aid intensity.

    • Grants from the Zefyr Media Fund and/or Western Norway Film Fund can also be combined with the film incentive.

    • Norwegian Film Institute

      • No application deadlines for co-production of short films or documentaries.

      • For feature films and drama series, see overview below.

    • Zefyr media fund

    • The project must be recognized as a cultural product.

    • It is sufficient that the project is defined as a cultural product in the country of origin of the main producer.

    • For applicants with a main producer from a country without a competent authority for such approval, the Norwegian Film Institute, Zefyr Media Fund or Western Norway Film Fund will make an assessment of whether the project is a cultural product.

    • For grants from the Norwegian Film Institute, the project must qualify through a cultural test, which includes quantifying creative and technical contributions from Norway.

    • For grants from Mediefondet Zefyr and Western Norway Film Fund, as a general rule, the Norwegian minority producer must be based in the region.

    • Norwegian Film Institute

      • Production costs in Norway (including hotel and travel expenses).

      • Fees for Norwegian cast and crew, including work outside Norway.

      • Costs related to the fees of Norwegian cast and crew, such as insurance, travel and accommodation, including outside of Norway.

      • All Norwegian supplier services, also outside Norway, and any related transportation, insurance, customs duties and taxes.

    • Mediefondet Zefyr and Western Norway Film Fund

      • Same as above, but the grant is calculated on the basis of the costs incurred in the regional audiovisual industry.
