Western Norway Film Fund manages state and regional grants for the production and development of short films, documentaries and documentary series, and for the development of feature films, drama series and games. The Film Fund is an advocate for the regional film industry, and strives to advance its competitiveness nationally and internationally.

Western Norway Film Fund also provides grants for skill-building initiatives and film culture events, organizes industry meetings and courses, and provides scholarships for the professional industry to participate in national and international forums.

The Film Fund has two subdivisions:

Western Norway Film Commission promotes the region as an attractive filming location and promotes the industry as a relevant partner to international decision-makers.

BAKOM is a creative film and game development and production workshop for young talents, run with support from Bergen Municipality and Vestland County Council.

Western Norway Film Fund was established in 1994 and has been in operation since 1995. The Film Fund is owned by Bergen Municipality, Vestland County Council and Møre og Romsdal County Council.
